Our approach

The Florist Wrap Shop is powered by Decowraps — a packaging company based in Aalsmeer, the Netherlands, at the heart of the European flower trade. Since 1999, Decowraps has been designing packaging that enhances special moments. For over 25 years, that mission has included making the floral packaging industry more sustainable — not as a side project, but as a core commitment built into every material, every process, and every product we bring to you.

"The switch to sustainable packaging is an answer to the current climate crisis, and a necessity from a business point of view. It is time we start embracing sustainability to keep enhancing special moments for generations to come." — Decowraps

Today, consumers choose brands that reflect their values. The right packaging not only reduces environmental impact — it tells your customers something important about who you are. Our sustainable range makes that easy: same quality, same ease of use, a better story. Sustainability at The Florist Wrap Shop works on three levels: the materials we choose, the certifications we hold, and the people behind our supply chain.

Plant-based paper

Silphie paper

An innovative, plant-based circular paper made from the renewable fibres of the Silphium perfoliatum plant, cultivated and processed locally in Germany in collaboration with OutNature. Originally grown as an energy crop for biogas production, the Silphium plant now provides valuable alternative paper fibres for high-quality, recyclable packaging. Fully recyclable and compostable.

  • Locally sourced and processed in Germany — low transport emissions
  • Supports biodiversity — long flowering period feeds pollinators
  • Perennial crop usable for at least 10 years — no replanting needed
  • Continuous soil cover prevents erosion and improves water retention
  • Promotes humus accumulation and sequesters carbon in the soil
  • Requires minimal pesticides and fertilisers
  • Winner of the Greenovation Award 2024 at Royal FloraHolland
Available as: Sheets, rolls, prefolds and skirts.

Agricultural waste paper

Paperwise

Every harvest leaves something behind — stems, husks, leaves. Plant residues that typically get burned or left to rot. Paperwise turns what's left after the harvest into premium, circular paper. Made from 80–100% agricultural waste from wheat, rice, sugarcane and other crops. No new trees. Just plant residues, given a second life. Decowraps is the first floral packaging company in the world to bring Paperwise into its range.

  • 80–100% agricultural waste — no virgin wood pulp, no new trees
  • 47% better for the environment than conventional paper
  • Saves up to 756 kg CO₂ per 1,000 kg compared to recycled paper
  • Fully recyclable and compostable — home and industrial
  • Food-safe (ISEGA certified)
  • Supports farmers in India, Colombia, and China through additional income
Available as: Sheets, rolls, prefolds and skirts.
